Events
Pekin hosts many community celebrations throughout the year that provide fun for the whole family! Here’s a sampling of the many events you can enjoy.
Pekin Marigold Festival
1st Weekend after Labor Day
A community-wide festival that attracts over 100,000 people over a number of days and locations. Friday Night Family Fest is held downtown with food and entertainment. Saturday and Sunday, Mineral Springs Park features 300 arts and crafts booths of hand-made items along with a parade, entertainment, games, and plenty of food!
Winter Wonderland
Saturday after Thanksgiving
Start the holiday season with a parade, bonfire, hot chocolate and Christmas Carols. Fireworks proceed the flipping of the switch to light the park’s Christmas trees. Mineral Springs Park remains lit throughout December for all to drive through and enjoy. Website
Christmas on Court
1st Friday in December
Business Open House featuring over 1,000 candlelight luminaries, strolling carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides and a special visit from Santa Claus.
Derby Days
2nd Weekend in May
Carnival rides, Battle of the Bands, entertainment, food and much more.
4th of July Celebration
One of the best fireworks shows in Central Illinois is held at Memorial Stadium. You can view the fireworks from just about anywhere in town, but the best seats are inside the stadium where there is food and musical entertainment before the lights go out.
Main Street Super Cruise
Last weekend in July
Downtown Pekin fills up with over 800 beautifully restored to new model cars, trucks & bikes for this annual popular event. Website
