This years event will be hosted at the Pekin Avanti's Dome!

Pekin's Night Out Against Crime is an annual community event, hosted by the Pekin Police Department. The 2009 event was held at the Pekin Dragons Dome. The purpose of Pekin's Night Out Against Crime is to:

1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

2. Generate support for, and participation in, local service agencies and programs;

3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

Those who attend the Pekin Night Out Against Crime enjoy free food, free soda, live music, and free activities.

In 2010 we had a variety of activities and vendors for everyone to enjoy. Some of the activities included squad cars for kids to sit inside and experience, SWAT vehicles, a K9 Team Demonstration, and many other public safety agencies, who provided demonstrations of their equipment.

We also had several inflatable activities for kids to enjoy, which were provided by M&K Parties! In addition, we had a "car smash", for everyone's participation. The idea behind the car smash was for this community to take a stand to "smash" crime in their local neighborhoods. We had a great success, and many enjoyed this event. To cover the costs of towing and the vehicle, we did charge $1.00 for three swings.

Furthermore, between 20 and 30 local service agencies were represented at the Pekin Night Out Against Crime. Each agency had an informational booth which included giveaways or fun and educational activities for children.

Sponsors and donors for Pekin's Night Out Against Crime 2010 include, Pekin Dragon's Dome, Ameren-Cilco, Advanced Medical Transport (AMT), Pekin Insurance, Midwest Generation, Tazewell County Health Department, Aventine Renewable Energy, Butternut Bread, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Kitchen Cooked, T-Shirt House, Pekin Daily Times, The Sign Shop, Pekin Fire Department, Pekin Public Library, Bergner's Department Store, and the City of Pekin. The musical entertainment for the event and MC for the event was provided by Steve Brown of Brown DJ and Sound Services.

Thank you again to all of our sponsors who made this event possible in 2010. Without their support, the prizes, give-a-ways and free food could not have been accomplished.

In 2010, the Pekin Police Department was able to give away over $2,500 in prizes and gifts, which included a Nintendo Wii, flat screen LCD TV, IPODS, 12 bicycles, and many more prizes!

McGruff the Crime Dog also attended Pekin's Night Out Against Crime 2010 and several of the children who attended the event got their photograph taken with McGruff.
