The Pekin Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the City of Pekin's street and water systems. This includes plowing and salting icy and dangerous roads during the winter months and repairing damaged sections and cracks during the summer months. The Street Division also creates the many street, construction and specialty signs throughout the city, as well as monitoring, maintaining and suggesting improvements to Pekin's water system. Also taking care of solid waste, garbage, yard waste and recycling.
The Street Operations section manages all the planning and budgeting for the Street Division. Staff inspects new road construction on work zones and street cut ordinances throughout the City.
