Human Resources

The Human Resources Department consists of two full time employees and provides comprehensive HR services which include employee fringe benefits, such as health insurance; job analysis and position classification as well as recruitment and selection of employees; compensation plan; labor contract interpretation administration; and development of personnel policies to more than 300 active employees. The Human Resources Department is pleased to serve the employees and retirees of the City of Pekin as well as the elected officials and the citizens of Pekin on a daily basis. City employees may participate in one of three pensions; IMRF, Pekin Fire Pension, or Pekin Police Pension. There are There are six union units, IAFF, Pekin Police Benevolent Association and Teamsters (General Unit, Solid Waste, Street and Waste Water), as well as non-union employees. The City of Pekin seeks highly qualified individuals when positions become available. The City of Pekin accepts applications for full time positions when they become available and accept applications for part-time school bus drivers and monitors throughout the year.
