There will be no additional charge to a participant’s monthly collection fees. However, when a participant registers, they will make a one-time purchase of $40 to cover the cost of a 64-gallon roll-out cart.
Curbside recycling is available to all residents in the City of Pekin by calling the Street Department at 309.477.2325 or signing up here on this website. Residents who sign up shall be assessed their $40 purchase of a roll-out cart on a subsequent wastewater bill.
Recycling will be collected on the same weekly schedule similar to garbage pickup.
All recyclable materials must be placed in a City of Pekin provided 64-gallon roll-out cart.
NO! The City of Pekin will be collecting all recyclables using a "single stream" collection processes. Materials just need to be rinsed and cleaned prior to placement in the 64-gallon roll-out cart.
Participants should NOT include food, soiled papers, batteries, glass, plastic grocery bags, plastic wrap, styrofoam, motor oil, hazardous chemicals, and electronics. Glass is no longer accepted.
