Code Enforcement

The goal of code enforcement is to evaluate and enforce local oridnances and codes. This can be in the form of answering constituent questions, issuing of warnings or giving actual citations for code violations. Even though part of the job does result in violations, a code enforcement officers’ main objective is to gain compliance to ensure an attractive, lawful and safe community. Here are a few common code enforcement violations seen regularly:
  • unsightly lawns / property maintenance;
  • excess signage;
  • nuisance properties;
  • public health issues;
  • housing;
  • illegal dumping;
  • parking;
  • business permits, and
  • condemning unsafe buildings; or
  • other types of enforceable codes.
